In “A New Day for Little Bear” we follow the lovable character, Little Bear, as he wakes up to a world that feels a bit different. Following a natural process of grief, Little Bear discovers deep within how to learn to live again and embrace a new day with hope and love, with precious memories of his beloved stars. Why this Story Matters

Loss is a difficult topic for children to understand and for adults to explain. Our animation provides a gentle and nurturing way to open conversations about loss, making it easier for children to express their emotions and for adults to support them. The animation is written by professional play therapist Eileen Russell and follows a therapeutic theory using metaphor to allow a child to feel safe to process what has happened to them without being directive. In this story Little Bear loses his beloved stars and learns to live again through the sunrise – this metaphor provides a safe phycological distance for a child to process a loss.
